Lubricating chains requires a special lubricant

Lubricating chains

Lubricating industrial chains requires a lubricant that meets a number of specific requirements that are not always easy to combine. The forces and pressures can be enormous. But friction also plays an important role.

First of all, the lubricant to be used must crawl and penetrate between roller, bushing and pin. Maximum lubrication between these is of great importance: the lifespan of the chain is strongly related to this.

But of course the grease should not be thrown away. Too much grease must then be smeared on the chains. In addition, far too much grease ends up on the machine or on the ground, which causes waste and dirty conditions. And worse; the environmental damage this causes.

Moisture and dirt/dust must then be repelled to reduce wear and maximize chain life and prevent corrosion. The ideal lubricant is not too sticky / sticky it otherwise attracts dirt / dust and pollutes chain. As a result, the chains will not reach the maximum service life.

Not every chain is the same and not every application or circumstance is the same. Below you will find an overview of lubricants for chains in an industrial environment.
